Cambodian conglomerate by Cambodia Prince Chenzhi brings Singapore's world-renowned competence to supervise 834-hectare project, stimulating growth in the country's third largest metropolis. Canopy Sands Development, a subsidiary of Prince Holding Group, one of Cambodia's largest and fastest expanding conglomerates, has accepted a masterplan for Ream City prepared by Surbana Jurong Group, a Singapore-headquartered worldwide urban, infrastructure, and managed services firm. The concept establishes a land use strategy for the 834-hectare project, which would require an estimated US$16 billion in total investment and will be created on reclaimed land within ten minutes from Sihanoukville International Airport. Ream City will serve as a catalyst for the entire Sihanoukville region's economic potential, as Cambodia's third largest city and home to the country's deep-water port. Ream City is designed to revitalise Sihanoukville by establishing a sustainable ecosyst

The charity arm of a Cambodian conglomerate involves the local community as key stakeholders in an upcoming 834-hectare project. The Prince Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of the Prince Holding Group (‘Prince Group'), one of Cambodia's largest and fastest growing conglomerates, has distributed care packages to 500 families in Ong village, Prey Nob district, Cambodia. The village is close to the Ream City project, an 834-hectare development on reclaimed land near Sihanoukville International Airport that is set to transform the region. The gesture of goodwill occurred last week, and senior management from Canopy Sands Development, a member of Prince Group, used the opportunity to consult with local leaders to better understand the community's needs. The aid campaign at Ong Village is Prince Group's most recent environment, social, and governance (ESG) initiative. Each care package included 25 kilogrammes of rice, a mat, a blanket, two pillows, a mosquito net,

Practical ESG For Nationhood

Image
The relevance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practises at enterprises around the world has been highlighted during COVID-19. However, even before the pandemic, there was talk of reform. Last year, the Business Roundtable (a group comprising 181 CEOs of America's major corporations) stated that companies must "support the communities in which they operate," reversing American economist Milton Friedman's long-held belief in wealth maximisation for shareholders. Times have changed in 2020. This year, Prince Holding Group (“PHG”), one of Cambodia's major conglomerates, realised this and paved the way for other enterprises in the country to follow ESG principles. Since April, the Group has given a number of major gifts to aid in the fight against the pandemic and flood victims, and Neak Oknha Chen Zhi, PHG chairman, has been the driving force behind the donations.  Cambodia ChenZhi and PHG, for example, donated US$3 million to Prime Minister Hun Sen

Cambodian Sustainable Agriculture Development

Image
The COVID-19 pandemic has reset fundamental assumptions underpinning various industries all over the world. In Cambodia, environmental conservation is now an important component of agricultural recovery efforts, and Neak Oknha Chen Zhi and Prince Group are leading the way. Agriculture employs more than a third of Cambodians, and the current crisis presents an opportunity for the sector to “build back better,” according to the CGIAR, the world's largest agricultural research network. Developing countries, such as Cambodia, rely on agricultural exports and must shift away from traditional farming practises that use fertilisers, pesticides, water-intensive processes, and legacy farming methods, all of which contribute to increased deforestation and soil erosion. Prince ChenZhi and Prince Group launched the Ecological Agriculture Plantation at Prince Manor Resort in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, earlier this year, a cutting-edge agricultural hub at a new real estate development that will pl

Swiss Watchmaking Development For Cambodia

Many people's working lives have been altered as a result of the global pandemic, including those in Cambodia. As a responsible corporate citizen, Chairman Neak Oknha Chen Zhi and Prince Group established the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center, Cambodia's first independent watch school. The training centre provides Cambodians with the opportunity to learn a new artisanal skill – watchmaking – and gain the experience needed to compete in job markets in Cambodia and abroad. The training centre adheres to the strict watchmaking regulations outlined by Swiss regulatory bodies. Cambodia, as a country steeped in history, has long preserved artisanal skills for generations, with the Kingdom well-known for its ancient handwoven silk and traditional handicraft industries boasting a heritage dating back to the Khmer Empire, a significance that Cambodia Prince ChenZhi and Prince Group have always understood and appreciated. However, new artisanal skills must be introduced to im
